September 22, 2014, 5:15-6pm: PILA Presented a Panel on this November's ballot measure for establishing an Intermediate Appellate Court in Nevada. Panelists: Nevada Supreme Court Justice Saitta, Dean Traum, and Attorney Cliff Marcek. 55 people attended for dinner and an enlightening discussion.
Pedal to the Medal
Law students teamed up with the Clark County Law Foundation to help give water and fruit at this great fundraiser for Nevada participants in the Special Olympics.
LACSN Homeless Assistance Project
Ask-A-Lawyer Event brings attorneys to the St. Timothy's and Las Vegas Rescue Mission several times a year. Law students help with organizing and in-take.
Community Law Day
Law students mentored incoming first-year law students and assisted with community legal information classes.
15th Annual PILA Auction
On February 6, 2014, in the Jazz Room of The Smith Center for the Performing Arts, PILA honored Bill Curran as our Silver Staircase Honoree and raised over $10,000 to support 3 PILA Grants for the Summer 2014. Grant recipients included Ashleigh Wise, who worked at the IRS, Kostan Lathouris at the Department of the Interior, Division of Indian Affairs, and Crislove Igeleke at NSHE. Thank you to everyone who helped, donated, and attended the 15th Annual PILA Auction!
Equal Justice Works 2010 Conference and Career Fair:
Registration is now Open -- This year's EJW Conference and Career Fair will be held on October 22 and 23 in Washington DC and will include more than 130 public interest employers, practitioners and leaders. Students may register and begin applying for posted positions now through September 24th at http://www.equaljusticeworks.org/events/ccf/student. Students interested in attending job fairs, who are looking for financial assistance to attend, can apply for assistance through the Career Services office, once you have secured an interview.
