Professor Gordon earned her B.A. in Psychology from Pitzer College and her J.D. from the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law, where she served as Managing Editor of the Arizona Law Review. Prior to joining the faculty at the Boyd School of Law, Professor Gordon practiced commercial and employment litigation with the firm of Hale Lane, now Holland & Hart, in Las Vegas. Professor Gordon’s scholarship examines the intersections of law and psychology, the impact of cognitive and social psychology on decision-making, access to mental health care, mental health professional shortages, involuntary commitment of individuals with severe mental health conditions, and not-guilty-by-reason-of-insanity pleas. Professor Gordon recently received a grant from the State of Alaska to conduct a comprehensive overview of statutes relating to mental health and mental competency and to recommend changes to existing Alaska statutes. Professor Gordon teaches Evidence and Legal Writing courses.
