Southern Nevada Paiute Tribe Indigenous Language & History Symposium
A two-day Indigenous Language and History Symposium focusing on the Southern Nevada Paiute Tribe (Nuwuvi). This symposium will be one of many collaborative events that will assist the Nevada Department of Education to develop a curriculum to teach the language and history of Nevada’s Indian tribes in public schools throughout the state. The Moapa Band of Paiute Tribe will co-host the event, in collaboration with the Nevada Department of Education and the Clark County School District. Elders from the Moapa band of Paiute tribe who are certified in the Paiute language, and knowledgeable of the traditions, songs and ceremonies of the tribe will take a primary role in this effort to revitalize the language of the Southern Paiute.
