This year the William S. Boyd School of Law commemorates 10 years of achievements. Those achievements are the clear result of a strong and committed vision shared by our faculty,
staff, and student body. It is a vision of an engaged, professional community around which responsibility to clients, skill, and intellectual pursuit come together in a common commitment to service.

The Boyd School of Law’s program of legal education is on the cutting edge of innovation. In the decade since its establishment, Boyd has achieved accreditation from the American Bar Association and membership in the Association of American Law Schools in record time, and earned the recognition of its peers and others, as reflected in various assessments and ratings of its programs. The widely respected faculty has built a comprehensive traditional program of legal education with specific programs that introduce students to the complexities and responsibilities of life as a lawyer. Our offerings in clinical legal education, the Lawyering Process program, and externship and simulation opportunities are fully integrated into the traditional curriculum. We want our students to understand legal practice as a unique combination of creative and applied intellectual endeavor. Moreover, students at Boyd have extensive opportunities to participate in community service programs and to work with faculty and community leaders focused on improving society and addressing its most vexing problems. Through these opportunities we emphasize the great responsibility lawyers have, as professionals, as privileged members of the community, and as officers of the court, to work for the betterment of their communities.

All we have achieved owes to the verve and vision of our founders, the daring and faith of our students, and the courageousness and commitment of our supporters. In celebrating our first 10 years, we hope to persevere and build on our success for the next decade. We plan to be ambitious and aggressive in building the law school for the future. That school will build on our existing programs, enhance our role as a resource for community, and improve on our pedagogy for producing great lawyers.
