July 2-6  

Linda Berger will attend the 13th International Conference of the International Society for the Study of European Ideas at the University of Cyprus in Nicosia, Cyprus. At the conference, Berger will speak on "Metaphor in Law as Poetic and Propositional Language" as part of a panel on "Legal Language."


July 8-11

  Michael Kagan will attend the Northwestern University Summer Institute on Forced Migration Studies in Evanston, IL. At the Institute, Kagan will present two lectures on the role of human rights and legal aid in refugee resettlement.
July 8-14   Ann McGinley, and Jeff Stempel will teach "Introduction to American Tort Law" and "American Civil Litigation: Environmental Claims, Toxic Torts, and Insurance" courses, respectively, at the University of Insubria in Como, Italy.
July 10-12   Nancy Rapoport will talk about the future of legal education at Foundation Press in Minneapolis, MN.
July 12-19  

Kay Kindred will attend the Uniform Law Commission Annual Meeting in Nashville, TN. At the meeting, Kindred will present two proposed statutes: The Uniform Premarital and Marital Agreement Act and The Uniform Deployed Parents Visitation and Custody Act.


July 17-20

  Bret Birdsong will attend the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation Trustees Meeting and 58th Annual Institute in Newport Beach, CA. At the Meeting, Birdsong will serve as Boyd School of Law's trustee representative. At the Institute, Birdsong will serve as co-chair for planning of the Public Lands Section, having organized panels on public land law's worst decisions, the administrative record in public lands litigation, renewable and traditional energy development, and endangered species.

July 19-20

  David S. Tanenhaus will teach at the California/Nevada We the People: The Citizen and the Constitution Summer Institute in Reno, NV.
July 21-24   Chad Schatzle, Jennifer Gross, and Jeanne Price will attend the American Association of Law Libraries (AALL) Annual Meeting in Boston, MA.
July 25-28  

Nancy Rapoport will attend the American Bankruptcy Institute Southeast Bankruptcy Conference in Amelia Island, FL. At the conference, Rapoport will speak about the new United States Trustee Fee Guidelines.


July 27-28

  Marketa Trimble will attend the IP Scholarship Conference of the CASRIP Summer Institute, High Technology Protection Summit, at the Center for Advanced Study & Research on Intellectual Property at the University of Washington in Seattle, WA. At the conference, Trimble will present on cross-border infringements of intellectual property rights.

July 29-August 1

  Marketa Trimble will attend the 31st Annual Congress of the International Association for the Advancement of Teaching and Research in Intellectual Property (ATRIP) at Chicago-Kent College of Law in Chicago, IL.

July 29-August 4

  Ian Bartrum, Linda Berger, Ann McGinley,and Stacey Tovino will attend the Southeastern Association of Law Schools (SEALS) 2012 Annual Conference in Amelia Island, FL. Berger will serve as a facilitator for the Legal Writing Institute's Writers' Workshop held in conjunction with the conference. McGinley will participate in a discussion group on "Contemporary Issues in Gender and Law" and will speak on "Masculinities Theory Meets Feminist Theory" as part of a "Masculinities, Manliness, and Law" panel. Tovino will present "The Rhetoric of Health Information Confidentiality" as part of a "Health Care, Health Law, and Rhetoric" panel and will discuss the Supreme Court's recent opinion on the Affordable Care Act as part of a "Health Care Reform" panel.
