Madyson Hinkel Wins Milani Disability Law Writing Competition

Congratulations to 2L Madyson Hinkel, who won first place in the national Adam A. Milani Disability Law Writing Competition. Her work was selected by a panel of judges, including UNLV Boyd Professor Linda Berger and Professor Emerita Terry Pollman, based on a brief she prepared in Prof. Lori Johnson’s Lawyering Process 2 class last spring semester.

"It was a pleasure to teach Madyson in Lawyering Process 2, where she prepared a brief on the Americans with Disabilities Act,” said Professor Johnson. “Despite the challenges of the pandemic, she produced an exceptional brief, which I encouraged her to enter into the Milani Competition. Madyson's win is a testament to her hard work and legal writing skills."

The Adam A. Milani Disability Law Writing Competition is a national disability law writing competition sponsored by the Mercer University School of Law and the ABA Commission on Mental and Physical Disability Law. The competition honors the work of the late Professor Adam Milani, a passionate advocate for disability rights, an accomplished legal scholar, and a beloved faculty member at the Law School. Adam was a long-time legal writing professor and a dear friend and colleague to all of us in the legal writing community.
