The goal of the Nevada Law Section of the Nevada Law Journal is to provide a fast, free, and effective way to disseminate relevant Nevada law as it is created by the Supreme Court of Nevada and the Nevada State Legislature and, where appropriate, to provide concise, relevant and timely analysis of significant legal issues presented by Nevada law.
The Nevada Law section of the Nevada Law Journal is specially designed as a comprehensive source of information for practitioners and scholars who are specifically interested in access to original sources of Nevada law, such as the NEVADA REVISED STATUTES, the NEVADA ADMINISTRATIVE CODE, the history of proposed legislative measures in each session of the Nevada Legislature, as well as Nevada Supreme Court opinions. In addition to important Nevada legal resources, the Nevada Law Journal has incorporated analyses and commentaries with respect to select Nevada Legislative measures and Nevada Supreme Court opinions.

Nevada Statutory and Legislative Information Available
The Nevada Law Journal has been authorized to link to the Nevada Legislative Counsel Bureau’s website to provide access to the most recently published version of the NEVADA REVISED STATUTES and the NEVADA ADMINISTRATIVE CODE ("NAC"), as well as the Nevada Register, which includes rules and regulations that have been proposed, or have been adopted, but not codified into the NAC. The Nevada Law section also provides links to the Legislative Counsel Bureau’s online compilation of the Statutes of Nevada as enacted in recent sessions of the Nevada Legislature, as well as a list of all Senate and Assembly bills that were introduced during each regular and special session since 1993. As part of the Session information, the Legislative Counsel Bureau includes not only the Histories and Journals of the Senate and Assembly, but also provides online access to committee information and minutes for each committee in which a particular proposal was heard. The Legislative Counsel Bureau also provides a record of all bill draft requests submitted during the session, as well as the legislative rules in effect during each session.
The Editorial Staff of the Nevada Law Journal, in consultation with the director and staff of the Legislative Counsel Bureau and various representatives of Nevada’s legal community, provides analysis of the most significant legislative measures passed by the most recent legislative session. These short investigative pieces, which are based upon a review of the legislative history of each measure as well as the contemporary events which brought about each measure’s passage and approval, are intended to provide practitioners and scholars with a timely and thoughtful review and analysis of the most important legislative measures enacted by Nevada’s Legislature.
Each commentary includes a discussion of the background of the measure under review, the specific changes to Nevada’s statutes, as well as the benefits and drawbacks of its passage as presented by its supporters and opponents. Each piece concludes with an analysis of whether the proposed measure is likely to meet its stated goals and objectives as determined by an evaluation of the measure itself, assessment of the statutes which address the same issue in other states or at other levels of government, and observations of those in opposition or contemporary comments by other scholars and interested observers.
Nevada Supreme Court Opinions
The Nevada Law Journal is also linked to opinions handed down by the Nevada Supreme Court through the Legislative Counsel Bureau’s web site. In doing so, the Nevada Law Journal provides rapid access to practitioners and scholars who are specifically interested in the court’s rulings. Furthermore, the Editorial Staff of the Nevada Law Journal selects certain Court opinions of significant interest to the legal community for commentary. These commentaries include a summary of the court’s majority, minority or dissenting opinions, as well as an issue and disposition section that summarizes the tensions presented in the case. Furthermore, the Nevada Law Journal staff provides authorities cited by the court and related sources referenced by the court in its decision. The commentary section presents the state of the law before and after the opinion, as well as presenting unanswered questions (if any) and a survey of the law in other jurisdictions, if appropriate.
