NSHE Recognizes Immigration Clinic Staff for Dedication to Immigrant Students

At the Board of Regents meeting today, the Nevada System of Higher Education Equity and Inclusion Council recognized the staff of the UNLV Immigration Clinic for their "outstanding performance and dedication in serving as a resource for NSHE in support of undocumented and DACAmented students."

The Immigration Clinic staff, Martha Arellano, Laura Barrera, Michael Kagan and Mayra Salinas, have worked with law student organizations and volunteers to offer free assistance to people with Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), and have offered legal advice and information to students at Nevada State College, College of Southern Nevada, University of Nevada, Reno, as well as at UNLV. In July, the clinic will launch a pilot project to expand legal services for immigrants at UNLV.
