Technology and e-commerce are not only changing how society does business, but also the way we resolve business disputes. Consumers, businesses, and legal service providers increasingly expect to be able to resolve any issues that arise, 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, right from their laptops and tablets. Dispute resolution processes like mediation and arbitration are rapidly moving online. In this talk, one of the founders of the field of online dispute resolution will discuss the cutting edge opportunities this new technology offers to consumers, businesses, lawyers and law firms.

Presenter

Colin Rule

Colin Rule is founder and Chief Operating Officer of Modria, a company devoted to online dispute resolution.  Previously, Mr. Rule served as the first Director of Online Dispute Resolution for eBay and PayPal.  He has more than two decades in the field of technology and dispute resolution and has written numerous books and articles on the topic. He holds a Master’s degree from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government in conflict resolution and technology, a graduate certificate in dispute resolution from UMass-Boston, and a B.A. in Peace Studies from Haverford College.
