CLE: The Law and Literature Parts I and II

David Cross, Esq. has been a criminal trial attorney in Philadelphia for more than 20 years. He teaches courses on Trial Practice, Literature and the Law, and Shakespeare and the Law. He is also a freelance writer who has written for a variety of periodicals on a variety of subjects. He is currently working on a book about a cross-country driving trip he made visiting each of the Presidential Libraries, entitled, “Chasing History: Following the Presidents From Squedunk to Podunk.”
In part 1, Cross will give an introduction to law and literature then go on to discuss Aeschylus' the Oresteia, Anatomy of a Murder, Hawthorne and The Scarlet Letter and Camus and The Stranger. In part 2, he will continue with To Kill a Mockingbird, Anatomy of a Rape Trial, some Shakespeare, Atonement, Orley Farm and Rumpole of the Bailey.
