Internet Gaming Regulation Symposium

The UNLV Boyd School of Law is sponsoring a symposium and the publication of a comparative law book on best practices as it relates to the regulation of Internet gaming. The symposium will be held at the Boyd School of Law at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas on May 18, 2012. The symposium features world renowned speakers and authors who are highly knowledgeable in their respective fields. Speakers will survey laws from established and emerging jurisdictions with regulated Internet gaming from around the world, engage in a critical discussion of these laws, and make recommendations for best regulatory practices. Discussions will cover how regulatory agencies can best meet public policy goals related to:
- Age and identity verification;
- Location verification;
- Fraud and cheating detection and prevention, including anti-collusion;
- International dispute resolution;
- Technical requirements for systems, including testing, error prevention, reliability, security, random number generators and disaster recovery;
- Licensing requirements for operators, service providers and manufacturers;
- Responsible gaming, including player limits and self exclusion;
- Player account protections, including privacy, securing of customer data and safeguarding of funds;
- Accounting, audit, reporting and recordkeeping;
- Currency and transaction handling requirements, including anti-money laundering;
- Taxation; and
- Advertising
