50th Anniversary: The Indian Self-Determination & Education Act

In 1975, the Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act signaled a shift in the United States of America's federal Indian policy following the Termination Era. The Act gave tribes key involvement in the direction of services provided by the federal government in order to better assist the needs and desires of the local communities.

The Indian Nations Gaming & Governance Program welcomes Jay Spaan and Candice Skenandore, Executive Director and Director of Self-Governance, respectively, of the Self-Governance Communication & Education Tribal Consortium, will discuss the Indian Self-Determination Act 50 years after its enactment
