Part 2 of our four-part Judgment & Decision-Making mini-series provides an overview of clinical neuroscience and its relevance in the legal field before diving in for an ‘under the hood’ view of the brain as the vehicle for choice-making. We consider examples of ‘mechanical failure’ in this neurobiological system. We also learn some strategies for maintaining our decision-making machine, and we'll hear tips for optimizing its performance.
A licensed neuropsychologist and school psychologist with a Reno-based practice, Dr. Suzanne Aberasturi evaluates and treats clients contending with learning disabilities, behavioral issues, developmental disabilities, traumatic brain injuries, tumors, and other neurological disease. Additionally, she holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Education from the University of Nevada, Reno, where she also helps train new clinicians as an adjunct professor. Dr. Aberasturi has authored and co-authored research addressing learning challenges, learning strategies, and technology in education. Nevada courts have recognized Aberasturi as an expert in the fields of psychology and neuropsychology.
