Join us for this dynamic and interactive mediation training taught by expert and adjunct law professor, Margaret M. Crowley, Esq. This 40-hour training fulfills the requirements of most court-sponsored mediation programs. Participants will be trained in conflict theory, negotiation methods, and mediation process, techniques, and ethics.

This course explores mediation as a collaborative process of resolving conflict through third party dispute intervention. We will examine the dynamics underlying the efficacy of mediation, as well as the skills and ethical awareness needed to serve as a mediator.  There will be an emphasis on active listening and communication skills, the effective management and de-escalation of emotions, and negotiation dynamics, together with the nuts and bolts of mediation practice and procedure.   This class blends theory and practice, and will emphasize “hands-on” learning through simulation exercises which are drawn from various legal practice areas.  This class prepares the participant to begin mediating legal and non-legal disputes, and/or to use mediation skills to better manage conflict and disputes in one’s personal and professional life.
