Description
A panel of experts, including IRS officials, will provide guidance and insights on the effect of COVID-19 legislation on employment and tax issues.

The enactment of the "Families First Coronavirus Response Act" (FFCRA), P.L. 116-127, on March 18, 2020, followed in short order by passage of the "Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act," (CARES Act), P.L. 116-136, on March 27th, engendered, by design, a fundamental reexamination of the relationship among employers and the individuals who provide services to them, including employees. This sharply targeted program will provide guidance and insights on the effect of these enactments from some of the top legal minds focused on employment and tax issues at the Internal Revenue Services and in the Tax Bar. Complicated challenges surrounding the interplay among payroll tax deferral and the forgiveness of Payroll Protection Program (PPP) loans, the urgency of accurate worker classification decisions in view of the PPP, and the collateral tax consequences of paid sick and family medical leave programs are among the topics that this important session will explore.
