Boyd Alums Receive Rookie of the Year Award from the Nevada Attorney General
Karen A. Whelan and Alicia Lerud, both graduates of the class of 2006 at the Boyd School of Law, received the 2008 Rookie of the Year Award from Nevada Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto. Whelan received the award for the southern portion of the state and Lerud for the northern portion of the state.
The Rookie of the Year Award is given each year by the Nevada Attorney General’s Office to a deputy attorney general who has been nominated by her supervising attorney and has been working for 18 months or less. The Attorney General reviews the nominees and determines the recipients. Whelan is a deputy attorney general at the Bureau of Criminal Justice/Worker’s Compensation Fraud Unit in the Las Vegas Office. Lerud is a deputy attorney general at the Bureau of Public Affairs/Public Safety in the Carson City Central Office.
