Linda Edwards Appointed Professor of Law
Linda H. Edwards, the Macon Professor of Law and the Director of the Legal Writing Program at Mercer University School of Law, will join the UNLV Boyd School of Law faculty in July 2009 as Professor of Law. Professor Edwards has been Visiting Professor of Law at the Boyd School of Law since 2008.

"The Boyd School of Law has always been innovative and creative in our approach to legal education and will benefit from Professor Edwards’ years as one of the most creative and influential legal educators in the country."
Professor Edwards specializes in property law, estates and future interests, and law and rhetoric. She received a B.A. from Florida State University in 1970 and a J.D. from the University of Tennessee College of Law in 1976. After practicing law for 11 years, Professor Edwards began law teaching at the New York University School of Law in 1987, where she served as the Coordinator of the Lawyering Program.
A leader in the field of legal writing and research, Professor Edwards speaks frequently at national conferences and workshops, and is the author of leading textbooks in legal writing and in property law. She is a founding member of the Persuasion Institute of the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts and is active in many sections of the American Bar Association and the Association of American Law Schools. In 2009, she received the Thomas F. Blackwell Memorial Award. The award, which is sponsored by the Legal Writing Institute (LWI) and the Association of Legal Writing Directors (ALWD), is given for outstanding contributions to the field of legal writing.
At the Boyd School of Law, she teaches Property and Wills, Trusts, and Estates.
