What do you miss the most about your native El Paso?
I miss a lot of things about El Paso —the food, culture, art, music venues, family, and friends. I could go on and on about things I miss. The places and activities in El Paso that I have in mind are far too many and far too special to be able to do them justice in a small paragraph. I do get homesick when I am in Las Vegas. I also miss the good Mexican food. I have yet to find a place in Las Vegas.
And what made you decide to venture to Las Vegas for law school at Boyd?
I wanted to stay in the Southwest. I love the weather in this part of the country. I do not like the cold. I also loved the idea of Las Vegas. As someone whose hobbies include music and art, Las Vegas made sense. I wanted a city that was a short plane ride back home. My decision to attend Boyd was solidified after I did a school tour with the best tour guide, Dean Wall. He was very convincing, friendly, and nice.
What's it like to prep for and participate in a CrossFit competition?
I used to do CrossFit as an undergrad. I am very competitive when it comes to sports. I used to work out every day and do a lot of strength and conditioning. I wouldn't do anything "special" to prep. I would just do the exercises, eat healthy, and stay motivated with the help of my team.
Imagine when life returns to normal... what's the first thing you'll do?
First thing I want to do is attend a concert and then do all the travelling I did not get to do this year!
