Congratulations on winning the George A. Strait Scholarship! Can you tell us a little bit about this award?
This endowed scholarship award honors the memory of George A. Strait, a distinguished law librarian and longtime member of the American Association of Law Librarians (AALL). Thomson Reuters established the endowment in partnership with AALL. Applicants must be members of a recognized minority group who are enrolled in an ALA-accredited library graduate school program or law school in the U.S. and intend to pursue a career in law librarianship.
What piqued your interest in legal research?
I have always loved the law, and it is one reason why I became a court reporter. Being a lifelong learner, I next looked into a law librarianship program while wrapping up a bachelor's in court reporting. That adoration of law and librarianship naturally blossomed into the perfect partnership for legal research.
What are your favorite things to do outside of law school?
I enjoy bike riding or doing Pilates to help maintain my physical health outside of law school, and I also read great fiction for some vital cognitive rest!
