You got married right in the middle of this past Fall semester. How did you manage law school and wedding prep all at once?
It was definitely difficult managing both. I anticipated having a busy 2L year, so I finished a majority of the planning almost a year in advance. We took advantage of a long engagement and planned the wedding a little bit at a time. It was hectic once it got closer to the big day, but just like schoolwork, you have to sit yourself down and get through your to-do list systematically. Luckily, planning a wedding can be fun, so it wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be. And I must add, my amazing husband, family, and friends helped me a lot.
What Boyd faculty member has helped you form your career outlook?
I took Trial Advocacy with Professor David Schwartz and I would say he was one of the professors who shaped my career outlook the most. He was a lifelong prosecutor and handled primarily homicide cases. Seeing as those are my goals, I truly enjoyed learning from him and hearing about his professional journey. We were able to watch video footage from trials he handled, which was really interesting, of course, but also served as an example of the type of trial lawyer I aspire to one day be.
And what will you be doing following graduation in May and the bar exam in July?
Following graduation, the bar (and hopefully a much needed, relaxing vacation), I will be starting as a Law Clerk in the Appeals Unit of the Clark County District Attorney’s Office. I couldn’t be more excited!
Day at the beach or day at an amusement park?
Day at an amusement park. Two words: Disneyland churros.
