What’s been your favorite thing about law school so far?
My fellow Boydians – not only have I enjoyed making so many friends, but I have learned from each of them some surprising lessons. For example, how to have a good sense of humor in stressful situations, how to be there for each other, how to share as adults, and how to compete with grace.
You have a reputation as a fierce competitor in mock trial. Any advice for anyone wanting to get involved?
This is not meant to sound harsh, but thicken your skin. There’s a lot of deeply personal and painful feedback involved, but – in my opinion – there’s not a way to grow more quickly or better as an oral advocate, so it’s definitely worth the severe blows to your self-esteem.
If you only had $1.50 for a snack out of the vending machine, what would you choose?
My first instinct is the 3 Musketeers, because I have found it to be the freshest – the vending machine candy has some stages of decomposition that the 3 Musketeers seem to avoid. However, an honorable mention award has to go to the Funyuns – there are just enough savory chemicals in it that it feels more like lunch than a snack.
