A Note from President Whitfield
I am incredibly proud to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the William S. Boyd School of Law at UNLV.
The importance that the Boyd School of Law plays in our community and state is seen every day. UNLV is home to the only law school in Nevada, and while it is a great point of pride, it is also a great responsibility.
The Boyd School of Law has a strong reputation for excellence that is reflected in the profound impact our faculty and graduates have on the jurisprudence of our state and nation.
The overwhelming majority of our law graduates stay right here at home in Nevada, practicing civil and criminal law, serving in the judiciary, governing in our cities, counties, and state legislature, and serving our communities as advocates and trusted advisors. And our faculty are consistently recognized nationally for their scholarship and research, and they’re called upon regularly to provide counsel and leadership throughout the legal profession.
I want to thank Boyd School of Law Dean Leah Chan Grinvald and her team, our distinguished faculty, and of course, the Boyd family and all the donors who have helped make the Boyd School of Law at UNLV dynamic, powerful, and influential.
Here’s to another quarter century of success!
Warmly,
A Word of Thanks From Dean Grinvald
I am filled with gratitude to all of you for joining us tonight for the 25th Anniversary – the Silver Anniversary – of the William S. Boyd School of Law at UNLV. Tonight is a night of celebration and tribute to our founders. Congratulations to the classes of 2003, 2008, 2013, and 2018 on celebrating their milestone reunions!
With your continuous support, Boyd Law has been able to fulfill its mission – together, we have transformed Nevada and beyond for 25 years – and we will continue on this path. Today, we are a nationally top-ranked public law school and home to some of the country’s best and brightest students and faculty.
I hope you enjoy tonight’s programming – including the premiere of our new 25th Anniversary Celebration Tribute video, and the fireside chat moderated by Judge Phillip Pro. We also have some exciting announcements to share near the end of the program. Tonight is not the end of our year-long celebration, and I hope you will join me at one of our events in the spring.
I also want to extend my sincere thanks and appreciation to my team here at Boyd Law – Debra Gorov, Tommy Gugino, Heather Rappaport, Tania Medrano and Ranelle Antipuesto – and the many staff volunteers who have helped behind the scenes, all of whom have worked tirelessly on making sure our gala is the success it is.
I am excited by what the future holds for Boyd Law. Together, we will continue to transform Nevada and beyond.
With warmest regards,
