Our perspective on lawyering in context incorporates professionalism and lawyering skills into both semesters of our first-year legal writing curriculum.

The gaming studies program at the Boyd School of Law prepares students to address sophisticated, cutting-edge legal and policy issues in Nevada, across the United States, and around the world.

Health Law

The UNLV Health Law Program is a partnership between the UNLV William S. Boyd School of Law and the UNLV School of Public Health. The Program aims to create opportunities for faculty and students across UNLV’s campus and in our community to learn about the multiple connections between health and law.

Indian Nations Gaming and Governance Program

The mission of the Indian Nations Gaming & Governance Program is to provide cutting edge research and training on gaming, regulation, and governance for Indian nations; to prepare Native students to become future leaders; and to educate non-Native students in the legal, political, and cultural context of tribal gaming.

Intellectual Property Law

With its diverse curriculum, the Boyd School of Law prepares future lawyers for professional careers in a wide range of legal areas, including intellectual property law. The intellectual property (IP) law curriculum has grown over the years to respond to the needs of the technology, entertainment, and gaming industries, and to the increasingly internationalized practice of intellectual property law throughout the United States.

Race Gender and Policing

The Program explores the relationship between race, gender, and the ways people are policed. Policing refers to not only the activities of law enforcement officers, but also the ways that other actors, such as immigration officials, prison officials, schools, and private citizens, participate in surveillance and control.

Workplace Law Program

The drivers of our local economy – gaming and hospitality – raise especially challenging workplace issues. Law students, as well as students in the LL.M. Program, can take workplace law classes that prepare them to advise clients or work in-house on issues involving collective bargaining, wage and hour compliance, and sexual and racial harassment.
