Professor Witte is an internationally renowned legal historian of marriage and the family, religious liberty, and human rights. He is the author of 17 books, including Law and Protestantism: The Legal Teachings of the Lutheran Reformation (Cambridge University Press, 2002), Religion and the American Constitutional Experiment (Westview Press, 2nd ed., 2005), and The Reformation of Rights: Law, Religion and Human Rights in Early Modern Calvinism (Cambridge University Press, 2007).
