Commissioner Bulla will cover the essentials for law students and lawyers learning how to take depositions.  She will cover the guiding principles to keep in mind and traps to avoid. Topics will include knowing your purpose, using outlines, style of questioning, objections, specific questions or contexts, attorney-client relationship, discovery related questions, length, and creating a record.


Discover Commissioner Bonnie A. Bulla, Eighth Judicial District Court

Bonnie A. Bulla was appointed Discovery Commissioner for the Eighth Judicial District Court in January 2007.  She graduated Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa with a B.S. degree in Economics from Arizona State University in 1984.  She received her J.D. degree from Arizona State University in 1987 and moved to Las Vegas, Nevada.  She has been a member of the Nevada Bar since 1987.  While in private practice, she primarily handled cases involving professional negligence.

She was a member of the American Bar Association where she served as Speaker of the Young Lawyers Division.  She was a past president of the Southern Nevada Association of Women Attorneys.  She has also been a member of the Nevada Trial Lawyers Association, now known as the Nevada Justice Association, the American Trial Lawyers Association and the Defense Research Institute.

Ms. Bulla has conducted the following seminars: "Nursing Documentation and Related Issues", "The Medical Dental Screening Panel Process", "Physician Profiling", "The Successful Motion to Compel'', "Deposition Issues", "Discovery with 21st Century Technology'', "The Art Crafting the Successful Request for Admission", "Dynamic Discovery", "The Five Common Mistakes Made During Discovery'',"Discovery: The Year in Review'', "Discovery Tips, Challenges, Techniques and Strategies", "The Effective Use of Two Under Utilized Discovery Tools'', "E-Discovery", "Discovery Matters", "Expert Disclosure, Not Exposure'', "Helpful Tip for Using Depositions at Trial'', "Ethical Considerations for Preparing for and Defending Depositions", and Discovery & Ethics: Disclosure, Withdrawal & Spoliation".   Ms. Bulla has also participated in the "NITA Deposition Program" at UNLV's Boyd School of Law and at Arizona State University.  She has also participated in the Clark County Bar Association's Trial by Peers Program and is currently serving as President of the Howard D. McKibben Chapter of the American Inns of Court.  In 2011, Ms. Bulla was selected for the Bar Register of Preeminent Women Lawyers. She is also AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell.
