Description of Speaker's Talk:  How does a forensic psychiatrist determine a person's mental state at the time of an offense? What is the impact of mental illness, substances or developmental stage on a person's sanity and culpability? How does an evaluation factor in the potential for malingering? This presentation will describe the methods and standards for assessments of mental state and determinations of legal insanity in Nevada.
