“Abraham Lincoln and the Daughters of Dred Scott”

Professor Schaub will speak on Lincoln’s criticism of the US Supreme Court decision in the Dred Scott case. She will focus on Lincoln’s understanding of equality–including his remarks on women in his speech about the case. She will explain that Lincoln’s goal was to vindicate the founding generation’s approach to slavery.
