Nevada Population Health Conference 2018

The annual Nevada Population Health Conference, now in its third year, will take place on November 30, 2018 in Las Vegas.  The Conference convenes professionals, educators, policymakers, and students from across the state to consider programs that will improve the public’s health. In particular, the Conference seeks to address social contributors to health status and to apply innovative population health management tools to the delivery of health care.

“The conference is a yearly discussion by community partners about the latest ideas for enhanced care coordination, preventative measures and collaborative programs to improve the health of Nevadans,” said Connie Akridge, a partner at Holland & Hart and a member of the UNLV Health Program Advisory Board, who spearheads the effort.

This year’s sessions will explore Nevada’s 2019 health-related legislative initiatives, the status of coordinated, accountable and integrated care, the perspectives of physicians on population health management, and ways to apply blockchain to healthcare. The Conference also will host a competition for students from multiple disciplines, including law, medicine, and public health, to examine the role of medical-legal partnerships in patient health outcomes. Conference proceeds will be donated in support the operation of medical-legal partnerships in Nevada. 

The Conference is a collaboration of multiple organizations from across the state, including Holland & Hart, UnitedHealthcare, the Nevada State Medical Association, the Nevada Public Health Association, UNLV’s Health Law Program, William S. Boyd School of Law, School of Community Health Sciences, and School of Medicine, and the University of Nevada, Reno Medical School.
