Professor Shih-Chun “Steven” Chien was invited to deliver a keynote address at the 2025 International Conference on The Boundaries and Challenges of Judicial Ethics, hosted by the Academy for the Judiciary, Ministry of Justice in Taipei, Taiwan.

His presentation, titled “Legal Ethics in a Divided America,” examined how political and social polarization in the United States has reshaped the ethical landscape for legal professionals. The international conference brought together leading scholars and practitioners from Germany, Belgium, Taiwan, and the United States to discuss the evolving ethical challenges facing judges, prosecutors, and lawyers in the 21st century.
