Adam Ganz

Adjunct Professor
Bio:

Adam Ganz is a lifelong Las Vegas resident, attorney, judicial officer, and Adjunct Professor at the William S. Boyd School of Law. In June 2026, Ganz was elected to serve as the next District Court Judge for Department 13 of Nevada’s Eighth Judicial District Court. He will take the District Court bench in January 2027.

Before his election to the District Court, he was on the bench and served as an ADR/Discovery Commissioner for the Eighth Judicial District Court, having been appointed in 2023 by the District Court judges. In that role, he presided over complex civil and family discovery disputes and helped administer the Court’s Alternative Dispute Resolution programs, including the Mandatory Arbitration, Short Trial, and Mediation programs.

Adam brings more than 25 years of civil litigation and trial experience to the bench and classroom. Before becoming a judicial officer, his practice concentrated on complex civil litigation and trial work. He tried approximately 75 matters to verdict or final resolution, including more than 50 jury trials, and handled matters involving catastrophic injury, defective products, governmental liability, and other complex civil disputes.

His appellate experience includes matters before the Nevada Supreme Court, Arizona Supreme Court, Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and other state and federal appellate courts. He also previously served as a Justice of the Peace Pro Tem, Short Trial Judge, arbitrator and mediator, and trial consultant.

Public service has been an important part of Adam’s legal career. For more than two decades, he volunteered as an attorney with the Children’s Attorneys Project, representing children involved in Nevada’s child-welfare system. His professional and community service has also included nonprofit board service, mentoring law clerks and young attorneys, and involvement in youth sports and other community organizations.

Adam grew up in Las Vegas and attended R. Guild Gray Elementary School, Cashman Middle School, and Bonanza High School, graduating in 1989. He was the first member of his family to graduate from college and worked while completing his undergraduate and legal education. He earned his J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law in 1998 and later earned an LL.M. in Dispute Resolution from Pepperdine University’s Caruso School of Law.

At Boyd, Adam currently teaches Pretrial Litigation and Discovery, drawing upon his experience as both a trial lawyer and Discovery Commissioner to give students a practical understanding of civil litigation, discovery practice, professional responsibility, and courtroom advocacy.

Adam and his wife, Prudence, have been married for more than 28 years and are the parents of adult twins. A lifelong Nevadan, Adam Ganz has spent his career working in the legal system and community in which he was raised.
