Jason Mills is a highly experienced workers’ compensation attorney based in Nevada. He has been practicing law since 2000 and has dedicated his career to representing injured workers in Nevada workers’ compensation claims. Born and raised in Las Vegas, he learned the value of hard work from his parents, who worked in busy Las Vegas casinos. At the age of fourteen, he started working at a local plant nursery after school, further instilling in him a strong work ethic. Mr. Mills obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Nevada – Las Vegas and then attended the California Western School of Law in San Diego, where he earned his Juris Doctorate in 2000. He returned to Nevada, obtained his law license, and began his legal career. In 2015, he also became licensed to practice law in the state of Washington.
Throughout his career, Mr. Mills has focused exclusively on handling workers’ compensation claims in Nevada. He is highly regarded for his legal expertise in this area, and many new clients are referred to him by former clients who were satisfied with the outcomes of their cases. Fellow attorneys in Nevada also refer clients to Mr. Mills, recognizing his skill in the field of Nevada workers’ compensation law. Mr. Mills has served as lead counsel on thousands of contested workers’ compensation claims, representing clients at all levels of the administrative law process within the Nevada Industrial Insurance system. He has successfully litigated cases from the initial Hearing Office through the Nevada Supreme Court, and he has several reported decisions in favor of injured workers, including notable cases such as CCMSI v. Figueroa, 468 P.3d 827 (2020) and City of Henderson v. Wolfgram, 501 P.3d 422 (2021). After his former partner retired in December 2017, Mr. Mills continued to operate his law firm until it merged with GGRM on January 1, 2021.
In addition to his legal practice, Mr. Mills is actively involved in the Nevada Justice Association (NJA), the state trial lawyers association. He has lobbied and testified for the NJA on important issues concerning injured workers in every legislative session since 2015. He has worked on numerous bills, resulting in the enactment of dozens of laws due to his successful lobbying efforts. In 2016, Mr. Mills was elected to the Board of Governors for the NJA and is set to serve as the President of the organization for the 2023-2024 term. In recognition of his service to the association and the people of Nevada, he received the prestigious “Badger Award” from the NJA in 2017. He was also elected to the Board of Trustees for the Citizens for Justice, the NJA’s political action committee, in 2018. Mr. Mills was selected by the State Bar of Nevada in 2018 to be one of the five co-founding board members of the State Bar of Nevada Board of Workers’ Compensation Legal Specialization. This board was tasked with creating and administering a state bar certification and testing process for attorney specialization in the field of Nevada workers’ compensation law.
Mr. Mills is also member of prominent national legal associations such as the American Association for Justice (AAJ) and the Workers’ Injury Law & Advocacy Group (WILG). He also serves as the Nevada Workers’ Compensation Contract Panel Attorney for several professional sports players’ associations, including the National Football League Players’ Association, Major League Baseball Players’ Association, National Hockey League Players’ Association, Professional Hockey Players’ Association, and National Lacrosse League Players’ Association.
