Thaddeus Yurek

Adjunct Professor
Bio:

A native of California, Thaddeus “Toby” Yurek III moved to the Las Vegas Valley in high school and has considered Nevada home ever since. He did his undergraduate work at Hope International University in Fullerton, California, and returned to Nevada in 1995 to join the City of Henderson Police Department as a Police Officer. He served for 20 years, advancing to the rank of Lieutenant before retiring in 2015.

During his time with the Henderson Police Department, Mr. Yurek completed his Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Boston University. He went on to pursue his Juris Doctorate from the William S. Boyd School of Law at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He graduated in 2008 and was accepted to the Nevada Bar that same year.

Upon retirement from law enforcement, Mr. Yurek joined the firm. His background and experience give him a unique understanding of the challenges faced by those who serve our community as first responders, allowing him to offer quality representation to the injured. He also serves as an instructor for law enforcement agencies and police academies, specializing in Fourth Amendment law.

Mr. Yurek is a Fee Dispute Mediator and Arbitrator for the State Bar of Nevada and a member of the Nevada Justice Association. He has served on the Governance Board of Lake Mead Christian Ministries and the Board of Trustees of Hope International University. He was recently appointed as Judge Pro Tempore for the City of Henderson Municipal Court.

Toby is also currently serving in the Nevada Legislature, elected to represent Assembly District 19, which encompasses Southeast Henderson, Logandale, Moapa, Moapa Valley, and Mesquite.
