Boyd Alum Helps Raise Money for Challenged Athletes

Sean K. Claggett ’03 helped raise over $1.3 million for challenged athletes by taking on the Million Dollar Challenge, a seven-day, 620-mile bike ride from San Francisco to San Diego. The ride began on Oct. 16 and finished on Oct. 22.

Claggett was part of a team of 100 riders who each raised a minimum of $10,000 to support the Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF), an organization that helps pay for equipment and training expenses of challenged athletes.

 

“To take seven days out of such a busy schedule and not work or take any calls related to work was really special—just time to focus on the task at hand and helping those who need the help,” said Claggett.

Claggett is the founding attorney of Claggett & Associates, employing eight persons and focusing on personal injury, civil litigation, real estate litigation, and criminal defense. He is the Vice President of the Boyd School of Law Alumni Association Board and has been a member since 2009. On Nov. 10, he was presented with the 2010 Alumnus of the Year award at the annual UNLV Alumni Association Homecoming Dinner.

Established in 1997, the Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) is an organization that recognizes people with physical challenges and supports their athletic endeavors by providing grants for training, competition and equipment needs. The money raised for the Million Dollar Challenge will help towards the payment of handcycles, racing chairs, sports chairs and sports prosthetics for challenged athletes, as well as help subsidize their competition and training expenses.
