Boyd Partners with Local Nonprofit Groups for Third Annual Community Law Day
The intricacies of bankruptcy law, the options if you are going through foreclosure and the family court process are just some of the topics addressed in a series of free legal education classes offered to the community through the UNLV Boyd School of Law.
The UNLV Boyd School of Law, in partnership with Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada and Nevada Legal Services, has sponsored legal information classes the last 14 years and has helped over 45,000 people in the community.
The classes are designed to cover specific areas of law that will help individuals understand court procedures, documentation requirements and changes to laws. Individuals who attend the classes may apply for pro bono assistance.
All of these classes are being offered on Community Law Day, an event co-sponsored by the UNLV Boyd School of Law, Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada, and Nevada Legal Services. This event is free and open to the public. It will be held on Saturday, Aug. 18 from 9 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at UNLV Boyd School of Law on the UNLV Campus.
"We are the state's law school, and we take seriously our commitment to the community," said Nancy Rapoport, interim dean of the law school. "Making sure that our students learn, early on, how important lawyers can be to people in need is one of our key missions, and we're so glad that our students can work hand-in-hand with alumni and with attorneys with our community partners—Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada and Nevada Legal Services—on this important project.”
