Boyd Team Places Second in National Corporate Law Moot Court Competition
A team of three Boyd law students advanced to the final round of the Ruby Vale National Corporate Law Moot Court Competition held from March 18-20. The competition is an interscholastic appellate moot court competition sponsored by the Moot Court Honor Society of the Widener University School of Law, Delaware Campus. Each round is judged by attorneys and judges from Delaware, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. In addition, a distinguished scholar in the field of corporate law joins the competition’s final bench.
The focus of the competition was in the area of corporate law with two corporate issues of current legal relevance. Second-year law students Charles Gianelloni, Bracken Longhurst, and Dustin Holmes advanced through all preliminary and semi-final rounds to place second overall out of 24 national teams. They argued the final round in front of the Delaware Supreme Court, where they placed second in a split decision to Miami. Professor Lori Johnson and coaches Madana Hermiz and Amanda Hogeg assisted in the preparation of this team.
