All Boyd law students are required to complete a Community Service Requirement by participating in the CSP, which requires that they attend and teach legal education classes for community members; or educate people in the benefits of mediation; or help develop resources and information for immigrant communities in need of legal assistance. Many of the students teach classes about small claims court, bankruptcy, paternity and custody, guardianship, and family law. Classes are offered throughout the week, including Saturdays.
Each semester, the attorneys who supervise the students’ teaching select the top student from each teaching team, someone who goes above and beyond the call of duty. From that group, the CSP Student of the Semester is selected and receives a book scholarship. At the end of each calendar year, one student from the three Students of the Semester is select as the Community Service Program Student of the Year.
Below are the students that were awarded top student honors at the end of the Spring semester.
