Library Assistant Wins Scholarship
Claire Hand, Wiener-Rogers Law Library Assistant, was awarded a scholarship this summer from the UNLV Office of the Vice President for Diversity & Inclusion-Multicultural Center to attend the third annual Women of Color Leadership Conference hosted by the MGM Mirage.

In the “Empowering Our Future” session, Lisa Nichols, author of the widely popular “Chicken Soup for the Soul” series presented her insights on how to overcome daily obstacles in order to live a happy life.
Dr. Cherie Carter-Scott, bestselling author of “If Life is a Game, These are the Rules,” one of Oprah Winfrey’s recommendations, suggested ways to find inner strength and outlined strategies to help attendees identify paths to success.
The presentation by Soo Hong, a consultant at a leading global executive search firm, focused on how to grow in your current job. She pointed out how reinvention can reposition your skills and strengths and how attendees can identify and build upon their Strengths.
Said Claire, “I thought the conference was awesome,” adding, “the conference provided me with valuable leadership tools that are applicable in the higher education arena."
