Do you have certain memories about law school that you want to remember?

I take pride in graduating from the part-time evening program. Law school is an entirely different challenge when juggling a full time job and going to school at night. Still, it was an amazing and fulfilling experience. My entering 2008 class was filled with brilliant people from such unique backgrounds. We learned a lot from the professors; but I just as equally feel we learned a lot from each other. Of all of my classes, the legal research and writing classes I took from Profs. Bayer and Whitney were tremendously rewarding. Those writing and research skills have helped me throughout my professional career.

What drew you to the Big Ten Conference and what do you like most about your work there?

Big Ten sports are a big part of the culture where I grew up in metro Detroit. So, the opportunity to work for the Big Ten Conference carries special meaning for me. They are a first-class organization. Working in the area of collegiate athletics governance has been a dream job. What I like most about working at the Big Ten are the people. The leadership there sets a great example for the rest of the staff; and you feel like a cohesive unit. It is a pleasure going to work every day. Besides my coworkers, I really enjoy working with the representatives from all our member institutions.

Is there a nugget of advice you would give a recent Boyd Law graduate?

Follow your passion first. Everything else will follow if you love the work you do every day.
