What do you enjoy in your off hours?

What off hours? I’m kidding. When I’m not working, teaching, or doing work for the Board I sit on, or other miscellaneous items, I love to read both fiction and non-fiction books (I usually have about ten books going at a time), and I’ve taken up walking the trail around Lone Mountain several times a week – I put a cheesy podcast on and get to decompress for 45 minutes, and it’s the best! I also of course love to shop and spend time with friends (safely of course!).

How did you get into the gaming industry?

Not all attorneys have law practices, as you know. I started in the gaming industry in law school, and was incredibly fortunate to take Gaming Law courses under the likes of Bob Faiss, Jennifer Roberts, and Greg Gemignani, among others. Those classes sparked my interest in the industry, and I landed an internship during my 3L year to further my skill set and knowledge base. After graduation, I had a temporary position with another gaming company, however that ended due to budget cuts and hiring freezes during the economic downturn. I left the industry for a while simply because I needed a job and couldn’t be picky at that point, and worked in other areas for about seven years. However, I never lost the interest or itch to be back in gaming, and a little over three years ago, I started exploring opportunities in the industry again. I happened upon an opportunity with a platform provider in the online gaming and sports betting sector, and when that company was acquired by a major manufacturer, I was brought over to the corporate side of the manufacturer, Scientific Games. While at Sci Games, I was presented with an opportunity to join GeoComply, and it was simply too good to refuse. I’ve been with GeoComply for just over a year now, and am so grateful for the opportunities to learn and grow in my role. It’s been such a great experience so far!
