What have you been up to since taking the Bar?
After sitting for both Nevada and California's Bar Exam, I took some time to relax and catch up on my favorite shows. I also began a Judicial Clerkship for the Honorable Timothy C. Williams in August 2020. Judge Williams has both a civil and business docket, so my clerkship has allowed me to learn from some of Nevada's brightest civil and business litigation attorneys. Judge Williams is also an excellent mentor as he has coached me in successful courtroom strategy, persuasive legal argument, and concise legal writing.
What do you enjoy in your off-hours?
I enjoy practicing Pilates and spending time with family and friends. I have also challenged myself to cook one to two new vegan meals per week. I am also on the Las Vegas National Bar Association (LVNBA) Mentorship Committee. LVNBA started a mentorship program this past Fall, and it has been gratifying to see the progression in such a short amount of time.
Tell me about your decision to attend Boyd School of Law.
I chose to attend Boyd for a few reasons. When I began my journey applying to law school, one of my supervisors and mentors told me to choose a law school with an excellent writing program. She explained to me that legal writing was essential to a successful legal career. At the time, Boyd was ranked number two in legal writing (now number one!), so I decided to apply. Second, I chose Boyd after my visit during admit weekend. Dean Durand and other fantastic staff and faculty made me feel like they cared about my academic success, which was also important to me.
Advice I would give to a recent Boyd Graduate?
Never let anyone discourage you from pursuing whatever personal, academic, or career goals you may have, not even yourself. Law school is hard, and studying for the Bar is even more challenging, so take it one day at a time and appreciate every moment of the process (even the times you want to scream and throw in the towel).
