From Dean Dan - December 13, 2019
As the semester winds down, I'm delighted to share some recent good news of recognition of our students.
- Congratulations to Jazmine Thompson who was selected to be part of a group of law students attending the National Women's Law Students Organization (NWLSO) Leadership Academy at Harvard Law School. As part of the program, Jazmine took part in panels on diversity and inclusion in the legal profession with faculty from Harvard, judges from around the country, and partners at Latham & Watkins and other national law firms.
- Alissa McAffee Elder was selected as a Steiger Fellow and will spend the summer at the Utah Attorney General's Office. This is the second consecutive year a UNLV Boyd Law student has received a prestigious Steiger Fellowship.
- Edgar Cervantes won the Public Interest Law Student of Distinction Award from the Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada. This award recognizes a law student who has made substantial commitment to the community by doing public interest work and promoting access to justice.
Tomorrow, we will hold our Winter Commencement here at the Thomas and Mack Moot Court. Graduate Omar Koury will be giving student remarks and we are delighted to welcome families joining us from as far as Nigeria to celebrate our graduates. We welcome the newest members of Boyd Nation. Best wishes for a happy holiday season.
Best,
Dan
