From Dean Dan - October 23, 2020
I want to thank the Society of Advocates for organizing a successful 2020 Client Counseling Competition from Oct. 16th-17th. I particularly want to congratulate the first place winners, law students Mary Groesbeck and RJ Lemus. Special thanks to SOA President Casey Rosenberg and Vice President Paige Silva. The success of the competition is due entirely to students working on behalf of their classmates, and I am particularly impressed by the excellent work in putting the Competition online. Finally, thanks to Professor Sternlight, Professor Nussbaum, Jae Barrick, and to all of the judges and volunteers who worked hard to ensure a successful competition last weekend.
Congratulations to alumna, Oganna Brown '01, who was awarded the Clark County Law Foundation Liberty Bell Award. Since 1983, the Liberty Bell Award has been given to individuals in the community who uphold the rule of law, contribute to good government within the community, stimulate a sense of civic responsibility, and encourage respect for the law in the courts. Oganna is a partner in Lewis & Roca’s Litigation practice group with years of high-stakes experience, focusing her practice on creditors’ rights, secured party representation, and commercial litigation. She is also a charter member of the law school's Alumni Leadership Circle.
Be well,
Dan
