From Dean Dan - October 5, 2020
Last week, we were delighted to announce the 2020-2021 inaugural cohort for the Justice Michael L. Douglas PreLaw Fellowship Program. The program will support first-generation and diverse students interested in law school by offering undergrads one week of simulated law school classes in criminal law, legal writing and legal analysis, and LSAT preparation. Fellowship recipients will gain insight on best practices for applying to and succeeding in law school.

In addition to welcoming our first class, we have had the opportunity to introduce the Douglas Program to many K-12 students throughout the Las Vegas valley. Through a partnership with the National Judicial College called Readings and Robes, we have met with over 600 students, reading from signed copies of Justice Sonia Sotomayor's books, Turning Pages and The Beloved World. At these events, panels of law students and Douglas Program Board members fielded questions from students and discussed law school and careers in the law. We are grateful for our partnership with the Clark County School District and we look forward to events at Cheyenne High School and Canyon Springs High School this fall.
Be well,
Dan
