Thanks to Professor Becky Harris, who last semester taught a course on Gaming Law Policy. Becky is a former state senator, an LL.M. in Gaming Law from Boyd, and past chair of the Nevada Gaming Control Board. Her students drafted proposed legislation for consideration by the Board. One such proposal was recently considered by the Board and was passed unanimously and effective immediately. We thank Professor Harris for providing law students with such a unique opportunity and congratulations to her class for having a real-world impact on the gaming industry.

Today, UNLV Boyd Law students cosponsored the Western Regional Convening of the American Constitution Society. Other cosponsors included University of Denver Sturm College of Law, and Arizona State University Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law student chapters. This event will cover gun rights, cannabis legalization, police reform, and voting rights. One panel "Shaping Cannabis Laws Towards Restorative Justice" feautures Boyd Law student Bradley Combs, 2L, Tick Segerblom, Clark County Commissioner, Steve Yeager, Assemblyman, and Laura Martin, Executive Director, Progressive Leadership Alliance of Nevada. The conference also feautures a panel: "You've Got Mail: Navigating Challenges to Fair and Free Elections During COVID-19 and Beyond" with Boyd Law alumna Senator Yvanna Cancela.
