We'd like to share three highlights from Boyd Nation:

Thank you to Dean Christine Smith for once again organizing the law school's 11th Annual Community Law Day and for her work with Partners in ProBono. For this year's Community Law Day, law students and partners in the community helped to provide clients with DACA renewals. All the more impressive, this was done online, and created a template for more online programming of this kind going forward. Partners in Pro Bono was started in the early 2000's in partnership with Barbara Buckley and the Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada where we work together to match lawyers and students on pro bono cases. Over the years we have helped hundreds of clients, and our students have gotten an opportunity to work on a wide variety of cases with experienced attorneys. This semester we have over 50 students signed up for Partners in Pro Bono - a record number of participants.

Last week, as part of the UNLV Boyd Health Law Program Speaker Series, we were delighted to welcome Ross D. Silverman, JD, MPH, Professor of Health Policy and Management at the Richard M. Fairbanks School of Public Health. He presented his talk on Vaccinations & the COVID-19 Pandemic. Thank you to Professor David Orentlicher, Co-Director of the UnLV Boyd Health Law Program for bringing this kind of important and timely programming to the law school.

Thanks also to Southern Nevada Association of Women Attorneys and president Georlen Spangler for generous scholarship support of outstanding women law students at Boyd. This is a wonderful partnership and we are deeply grateful for their ongoing commitment, particularly in difficult times. Congratulations to the awardees of this year's SNAWA scholarship winners:

Jamie Thompson Leavitt
Taylor Jorgensen
Breanna Fritchley

Be well,
