Your father was an attorney, right?

Yes, my father was a corporate attorney beginning as a lobbyist on the Hill for the lumber industry and ending in private practice.

You spent many years working as a nurse practitioner, and have managed an orthopedic surgery clinic. How do you see that experience and your legal education blending in your future professional endeavors?

I plan to complete the Health Law concentration offered by Boyd to merge my medical background with my legal future. With my clinical practice and experience on the business side of medicine, I see myself uniquely poised to offer a great deal of legal services to the medical community of Las Vegas.

Tell us about your kids!

My children are my pride and joy! They are a huge part of my decision to go back to school. My youngest has even said that he wants to get his JD/MD so that he will be a lawyer like mom and a doctor like dad. Sydney (12), Taryn (10), and Jackson (8) keep me very busy outside of the classroom. Sydney is an avid skier, spending every weekend in the winter in Park City on the ski team. Taryn is a competitive dancer, and Jackson also skies and plays lacrosse.

Caring for a family, running a business, attending law school... how do you make it all work?

I am very lucky to have the immense support of my husband as well as extended family. I certainly could not do this alone! Although I may have more on my plate than others, I think that my age and life experiences help to prioritize what I need to accomplish on a daily basis. During finals I am certainly overwhelmed, but as soon as they are over, you will find me decompressing in Park City!
