Asia Study Abroad

Written By Tommy Gugino

Last spring, Boyd Law students had the unique opportunity to study abroad in Asia. The goal of the program was for students to experience gaming law and regulatory concepts in Singapore, Macau, and Japan.

Of his experience on the trip, Joshua Lozano (‘25) said, “It was an extremely memorable learning opportunity featuring good food, great travel companions, and exceptionally gracious host. My biggest takeaway was seeing the significant influence of Las Vegas and UNLV on gaming and hospitality. Many of the attorneys or hospital executives we met had some history with UNLV. We even got stopped by alumni randomly walking around Japan who recognized our UNLV shirts.”

Lilian Xie (’26) shares, “Taking this course was one of the best decisions I made during my first year of law school! I learned so much about gaming law in Asia and made lifelong connections and friendships along the way. I was nervous about going on this trip, but Dean Grinvald, Professor Roberts, Sarah, and my cohort made this an incredible experience.”
