Where are you serving?

I am one of the judicial law clerks for Chief Justice Elissa F. Cadish at the Nevada Supreme Court.

How long have you been in this position?

I have been in this position since August 2023 and before that I was a judicial law clerk at the trial level for Judge Barry L. Breslow of the Second Judicial District Court.

What does your typical week involve?

A typical week involves reviewing the appellate record in the case or cases I am assigned for the month and preparing a bench memorandum addressing the issues raised by the parties. To address those issues, I review the arguments presented by the parties, conduct independent research, and then apply the facts of the case to the law. Additionally, my week may involve drafting dispositions or preparing for oral arguments depending on the statuses of my cases.

What do you enjoy most about serving your community?

The ability to ensure that the outcomes of cases comport with Nevada law is the part of my service that I enjoy the most. An added bonus of this position is seeing the Justices work tirelessly to decide cases correctly!

Can you share an interesting story or memory from your role?

The first time the Nevada Supreme Court published an opinion for a case where I wrote the bench memorandum was a surreal experience. Throughout law school you spend a lot of time reading opinions from various courts, but it was a really interesting experience being involved in the process because I realized how much time and how many people review the opinions before anything is published. Every person in the review process plays an important role in guaranteeing cases are handled effectively and correctly.
