Internal Scholarships
Nevada State Bar Scholarship
Two $5,000 scholarships are awarded per year sponsored by the State Bar of Nevada Gaming Law Section. Recipients of the State Bar Scholarships are awarded by the admissions committee independent of admission decisions. Scholarship awardees are selected in late Spring.
San Manuel Band of Mission Indians Scholarship
The San Manuel Band of Mission Indians Scholarship is a full-tuition scholarship and one is awarded each academic year to someone passionate about tribal gaming. Applicants for the San Manuel Scholarship are reviewed by a selection committee, independent of admission decisions, with preference given to tribal citizens and indigenous applicants. Applicants must have an active J.D. or LL.M. admission application and complete this scholarship application. An active J.D. or LL.M. application means an application has been submitted for the current admission cycle.
As part of the application, you will be required to upload an essay, of no more than two pages in PDF format, as to why you should be selected for this scholarship. Your essay should focus on your impact or potential impact on tribal gaming.
The application is available from November 1 to May 2.
The San Manuel Band of Mission Indian is a federally-recognized Indian tribe located on the San Manuel Indian Reservation near Highland, California. Read the Press Release>.

In addition to scholarships provided by UNLV, applicants are encouraged to apply for scholarships available from third-party organizations. Below please find a list of organization provided scholarships for LL.M. programs. Consideration for external scholarship is independent of admission consideration to UNLV. Application deadlines for external scholarships will vary, please visit their website for additional details.
Domestic Scholarships
AGBU Scholarship Program
Established in 1906, AGBU is the world's larges non-profit Armenian organization. AGBU's US Graduate Scholarship program is available to graduate students of Armenian descent who clearly demonstrate academic excellence, and financial need.
Asherah Foundation
The Asherah Foundation's scholarship program offers a second chance at education for women who are pursuing higher education later in life and have overcome great obstacles. The scholarship benefits women over the age of 24 who have demonstrated resilience and persistence in the face of adversity. Average scholarship is $2,500 USD per year. Scholarship opens in March with a May application deadline.
American Association of University Women (AAUW)
The AAUW provide two scholarship opportunities including the Selected Professions Fellowship for U.S. Citizens studying in underrepresented fields, and the International Fellowship for women pursuing graduate study who are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Details and deadlines are available on the AAUW website.
American Indian Graduate Center (AIGC)
The AIGC offers scholarships for Native American students pursuing a graduate degree on a full-time basis at an accredited institution in the United States.
American Indian College Fund
The American Indian College Fund has over 100 scholarship programs available for American Indian and Alaska Native students ranging from $1,000 - $20,000 per year. Applications open February 1 with an application deadline of May 31st. Must be a U.S. Citizen, full-time students, and enrolled member of a federally-recognized or state-recognized tribe, or descendant of an enrolled parent or grandparent.
George H. Nofer Scholarship for Law and Policy
The George H. Nofer Scholarship is for full-time graduate students with pre-lingual bilateral hearing loss in the moderately-severe to profound range, who use listening and spoken language as their primary method of communication, and who are attending full-time an accredited mainstream law school or graduate school working towards a masters or doctoral degree in public policy or public administration.
Golden Key Graduate Scholar Award
Golden Key offers scholarships for undergraduate and graduate study to assist members in realizing their potential through the Golden Key legacy and commitment to the advancement of Academics, Leadership and Service. Applications for the Golden Key Graduate Scholar Award are due in June.
Hispanic Scholarship Fund
The HSF is designed to assist students of Hispanic heritage to obtain a university degree. Awards are based on merit and amounts range from $500 to $5,000 based on relative need.
Korean American Scholarships Foundation (KASF)
KASF scholarships range from $500 - $5,000, and are offered to qualified Korean American students (including foreign students from Korea). All applicants must be enrolled in a full time program in the U.S. during the scholarship application year. Applications must be submitted to the region where your school is located.
The Rotary Foundation
Rotary Foundation provides two scholarship opportunities including District Grants and Global Grants.
- District Grants - District Grants are distributed by individual districts according to their own discretion. Grants may be granted to scholarships without restrictions on the level (secondary, university, or graduate), length, location (local or international), area of study, or on the dollar amount. The program serves to fund humanitarian and educational projects and activities, either locally or abroad that relate to the mission of the Rotary Foundation. Applicants should contact their district to find out more details about opportunities.
- Global Grants - Grants will be distributed towards larger, more sustainable projects developed by the clubs and districts in the six areas of focus. To find out which program is more suitable for you in the Rotary Foundation Future Vision Plan explanatory presentation. Apply by June 30 for Fall semester consideration.
Iranian American Bar Association
The IABA grants one or more scholarships each year to law students who have demonstrated a commitment to the advancement of the Iranian-American Community. Applicants must be of Iranian heritage and full-time students at an accredited law school in the United States who are not otherwise receiving full educational funding from another organization. Deadline to apply is typically in March, please visit the IABA website for additional details.
Kosciuszko Foundation Tuition Scholarship
This scholarship supports American students of Polish descent for graduate level studies in the United States. Scholarships range from $1,000 - $7,000 and are awarded for full-time study to U.S. citizens and permanent residents.
Wells Fargo American Indian Scholarship Program
The purpose of the Wells Fargo American Indian Scholarship program is to provide financial assist to eligible American Indian and Alaska Native undergraduate and graduate students pursuing degrees full-time at an accredited institution. Graduate students must be pursuing a degree in business or gaming/hospitality-related field. The maximum amount of graduate award is $5,000 per academic year and is a need-based award.
International Scholarships
Aga Khan Foundation Scholarships
The Aga Khan Foundation provides a limited number of scholarships each year for postgraduate studies to outstanding students from developing countries who have no other means of financing their studies. Scholarships are awarded on a 50% loan basis through a competitive application process once a year in June or July. Scholarships are provided for Masters-degree level applicants. The Foundation accepts applications from nations of the following countries: Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Syria, Egypt, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Madagascar and Mozambique. In France, Portugal, UK, USA and Canada, applications are accepted from those who are originally from one of the above developing countries. Application deadlines will vary based on Country Offices.
Fulbright Program for Foreign Students
The Fulbright Program for Foreign Students is a scholarship sponsored by the U.S. Department of State with the purpose of increasing the mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries. The Fulbright program sponsors foreign students, teachers, professionals and scholars to study, teach, lecture and conduct research in the U.S. and vice-versa, through approximately 1,800 student grants. The program is administers by the binational Fulbright Commissions/Foundations or U.S. Embassies, and applications for scholarship must be submitted in the students' home country. Margaret McNamara Education Grants
MMMG Country Eligibility List
Applicants must be at least 25 years old at the time of the application deadline, be enrolled at an accredited academic institution, and be from one the the MMMG eligible countries. Not available for US or Canadian citizens/permanent residents.
Organization of American States (OAS)
The OAS Academic Scholarship Program is available for students looking to pursue graduate study from an OAS Member State. Scholarship will be awarded for a maximum period of two academic years and up to a total of $30,000 USD per academic year on a full-time basis. Application deadlines will vary based the sponsoring country. Please visit the OAS Scholarship page for specific deadlines.
Europe
Belgian American Educational Foundation (BAEF) - Belgium
The BAEF - LLM Fellowship offers non-renewable grants for Belgian citizens which include a $18,000 living stipend and up to $30,000 for tuition costs. Fellows are expected to stay in the U.S.A. for a full academic year (nine months) at a top university. Applications will be due in October for next academic year.
Bakala Foundation Scholarship - Czech Republic
The Bakala Foundation Scholarship offers financial support to highly-achieving Czech students looking to study abroad in a bachelor's or master's program at a leading university. Students must have Czech citizenship or a permanent residence permit in the Czech Republic and be no older than 33 years of age at the time of application. Applications are accepted January - April.
The Kellner Family Foundation Scholarship - Czech Republic
The Kellner Family Foundation provides scholarship for undergraduate and masters level programs. Applications are due April 30.
Nadace Sophia Scholarship - Czech Republic
The Nadace Sophia Foundation provides scholarships for students studying economics or law. Applications are due April, August and November, and must be received at least 6 months prior to the start of the term.
P.J.C. Lindfors Legal Studies Fund - Finland
The PJC Lindfors legal scholarship was established to encourage cross-cultural study and understanding by law students in Finland and the United States. Eligible candidates must be Finnish citizens applying to ABA law schools in the United States.
Georges Lurcy Charitable and Educational Trust - France
Scholarships and research grants for French students enrolled at an American university in a degree-seeking program.
DAAD - German Academic Exchange Service - Germany
The DAAD is the world's largest funding organization for the international exchange of students and researchers. DAAD provides opportunities for German students to conduct research, teach or study abroad in the U.S.
German National Academic Foundation (Studienstiftung)- Germany
With more than 11,000 scholars, the Studienstiftung is the largest and oldest organization sponsoring the academically gifted in Germany. A number of scholarships are available including the Becerius Law Programme (if program includes a research project) and the ERP Fellowship Program.
Fondo Per Studenti Italiani - Italy
The Italian Student Fund is a non-profit corporation that offers financial aid to Italian university graduates who wish to attend post-graduate courses in the United States.
The Netherland-America Foundation (NAF) - Netherlands
The NAF offers a number of scholarships and interest-free loan programs to fund studies in the U.S. The NAF-Fulbright Fellowship is available for Dutch graduate students pre-selected by the Fulbright Center in Amsterdam.
American-Scandinavian Foundation (ASF) - Scandinavia
The American-Scandinacian Foundation (ASF) offers over $500,000 in funding to Scandinavians to undertake study or research in the United States for up to one year.
Thanks to Scandinavia - Bulgaria, Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden
Thanks to Scandinavia provides scholarships for graduate students from Scandinavia and Bulgaria in recognition of the ordinary people who performed extraordinary acts of courage during WWII. Two scholarships are awarded to students from each country, and deadlines will vary per program.
St. Andrew's Society of the State of New York - Scotland
The society awards five scholarships annually, each valued at $35,000 USD, to support graduate study for one year for two Scottish students to study in the United States. Scholarships are granted for tuition, maintenance and travel.
British Universities North American Club (BUNAC) - UK
Open to citizens of the United Kingdom who have graduated from a UK university within the last 5 years.
WorldWideStudies Scholarship - Ukraine
WorldWideStudies Scholarship is offered by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation, and provides support for Ukrainian citizens under 35 years old to pursue a Master's degree at top universities.
Africa
Qalaa Holdings Scholarship Foundation - Egypt
The Qalaa Holdings Scholarship Foundation was created in 2007 and grants scholarships to promising young Egyptian men and women to pursue masters degrees abroad in all fields of study.
Asia
The Han Kun Youth Legal Scholarship - China
Awards scholarships for exceptional young graduates from Chinese universities (including universities in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan) who are continuing their education in advanced legal degrees at top-tier Chinese or foreign law schools, and plan on pursuing a legal career in Mainland China after completing their studies in China or abroad.
The J.N. Tata Endowment for the Higher Education of Indians - India
The J.N. Tata Endowment awards a one-time loan scholarship to Indian nationals who are graduates of a recognized Indian University for full time Postgraduate/Ph.D./Postdoctoral studies/Research Fellowship studies abroad, in all fields, irrespective of caste, creed, gender or community.
College Women's Association of Japan Scholarship - Japan
The CWAJ scholarship supports woment who are Japanese nationals who wish to study abroad for a graduate degree. Scholarships are awarded on a candidate's academic excellence, the quality and feasibility of her proposed study, and her potential to contribute to society.
Japanese Association of University Women - Japan
The JAUW is a member of the Graduate Women International and works to improve the status of women and girls and promote life-long education. Through the International Fellowship, JAUW provides scholarship for university studies.
North America
Aide Financiere Aux Etudes - Quebec, Canada
Through their Loan and Bursaries Program the Aide Financiere Aux Etudes provides financial assistance for full-time study for Canadian citizens or permanent residents who as residents of Quebec.
W.L. Mackenzie King Scholarship - Canada
The Open Scholarship offered by Mackenzie King Scholarships is available to graduates of Canadian universities who pursue graduate study in any discipline, in Canada or elsewhere. One Open Scholarship is awarded each year.
Latin America
Fundação Estudar - Brazil
Offers scholarships for Brazilian students studying in the US. Scholarships will vary from 5% - 95% of costs to cover tuition, fees, and living expenses.
Instituto Ling - Brazil
The Institute Ling/Gouvêa Vieira Institute offers partial scholarships for LLM- Master of Laws at top universities in the United States and Europe. To apply, applicants must have already been approved for a full-time master's degree at the desired university. The desired profile is of young lawyers and early law graduates who demonstrate leadership, academic excellence and identify with the values of the Ling Institute.
Instituto Mattos Filho - Brazil
The mission of the Mattos Filho Institute is to promote law and strengthen access to justice for a free, diverse and democratic society. They provide grant scholarship to diversity the profile of the legal profession.
