Because I grew up poor and had to overcome several obstacles to even attend law school, I was drawn to public interest law. In my youth, I dropped out of high school and became a teen mother so I experienced first hand the frustration, fear, and desperation that comes with having limited resources and nowhere to turn when legal needs arise. When I was accepted to law school, I knew that I wanted to make a difference and help others find the justice that had been out of reach for me. … Being selected as a Public Interest Fellow was an incredible honor.
